Holidaying in Thailand, Meagan Penman was having the time of her life. Sun, sea, sand … and a dog. Out on the beach one day, Meagan stumbled on a dog dragging itself pitifully across the sand. She was distraught. Why was this dog’s hind legs limp? Where was its owner? How was it fending for itself?
She could have walked away from this dog, after all, she was on holiday and what could she possibly do in a foreign country? But she didn’t. What follows is Meagan’s story — one of fate, love and sheer determination.
The poor dog had lost use of both hind legs following a motorcycle accident. His owners did nothing to help and abandoned him.
Dragging his legs gave him multiple friction wounds on his body. He was also malnourished and covered in parasites.
Meagan knew that if she didn’t do something no one else would. She contacted several local rescue facilities but none were able to take the dog.
So she decided to take the dog, whom she christened Leo, back with her to Canada. This wouldn’t be cheap.
While Meagan returned to Canada to prepare for Leo’s arrival, a vet looked after him and nursed him so he would be fit enough to travel.
In the meantime, Meagan set up a fundraiser to help with the expenses.
Next stop: Canada!
Friends reunited <3
It’s amazing what a happy, loving home can do to our wellbeing. Dogs are no different.
It turns out Leo requires a lot more funds than Meagan originally thought. She is relying on contributions from you to help with his many medical issues.
Little Leo suffers from bladder issues, requires surgery and has special diet requirements. Contributions are already coming in thick and fast.
The money raised so far has gone towards helping Leo walk again. He looks happy!
Thanks to K9 Carts, life for Leo will never be a drag again.
Despite a lot bringing him down, Leo is fighting. You can help Meagan continue to look after this deserving pup by contributing to Leo’s fundraiser.
