Drea de Matteo says OnlyFans career helped her escape ‘shifty s**t’ that goes on in Hollywood

Drea De Matteo, celebrated for her role as Adriana La Cerva on HBO’s “The Sopranos,” has recently ventured into the world of OnlyFans, a move she describes as liberating. Known for her candid opinions, Matteo has previously criticized Hollywood, labeling it a ‘cesspool,’ a view she continues to uphold. During an interview featured in TMZ Presents Famous & Naked, Matteo shared her thoughts on the entertainment industry and her new endeavor.

“Hollywood the actual industry itself, there’s a lot of shifty s*** that goes on in Hollywood and we all know that,” Matteo explained in the clip. “It’s about freedom, and I don’t have to answer to f***ing anybody right now.” Matteo expressed the autonomy she has gained by starting her OnlyFans page.

Matteo has been transparent about her reasons for joining OnlyFans, citing financial difficulties and the potential loss of her home as primary motivators. “Why did I join OnlyFans? When we launched we had – I would say – a couple hundred bucks left in the bank. I’m not kidding. My house was going into foreclosure,” she revealed.

The actress admitted that her decision was born out of necessity. “Did I do it out of desperation? F*** yes I did. Did I think it would empower me just to be on OnlyFans? No, that wasn’t the f***ing point you know it empowered me to take care of my f***ing family. So the negativity that came with it, bring it the f*** on,” Matteo stated, addressing the initial skepticism surrounding her decision.

Matteo also reiterated her negative views on Hollywood, recalling her time on “The Sopranos” as a career highlight that truly opened doors for her. “I mean, that place [Hollywood] is a freaking cesspool. I’m not gonna lie. TV sucks. There’s nothing great. Sopranos opened the door for [me] 100 percent,” she commented.

Despite her harsh critique of the industry, Matteo hasn’t completely ruled out a return to film and TV, though she maintains stringent conditions for such a comeback. “It would have to really be something that was meaningful to me. I don’t need to just jump on just to get a paycheck even though I had literally $10 left in my bank account when all this was happening, which is why I started the OnlyFans page. I’d rather bet on myself than bet on the man at this point,” she concluded.
