Drew Barrymore repeated her anti-plastic surgery stance, adding that undergoing surgery is just not an option for her face.
“I’ve never messed with my face. I don’t want to fight nature,” the 47-year-old actress told Jamie Lee Curtis during an October 14 episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
“I’m raising two daughters, and we were raised in an industry where it was desired to drink off the fountain of youth and I just never subscribed to it,” she continued, per Express. “I think men just need to let women know aging is safe and awesome.”
Barrymore and ex-husband Will Kopelman have two kids, Frankie, 8, and Olive, 10. She also shared her reasons for previously avoiding plastic surgery.
“The thing that I do care about and I do feel is still relevant to my life is the face,” the “50 First Dates” actress said on a previous episode of the show. “I know myself. I’m a highly addictive person.”
She went on to say that she has been against cosmetic surgery for many years.
“I think because I’m so rebellious that I saw all of that pressure and I saw all of those women torturing themselves to look a certain way and I thought, ‘You miserable people,’” Barrymore continued. “We’re going to age, things are going to go south, and it’s okay, it’s a part of life.”
This isn’t the first time the “Charlie’s Angels” alum has defied conventional wisdom. Barrymore recently made news when she joked about going “years” without having sex, saying it was “no problem.”
“I’m not there yet,” she said earlier this year on her show. I have two young daughters and don’t want to bring anyone home.” I believe it would take me a long time to meet and get to know someone before I could even introduce them to my daughters.”
Barrymore explained her prior views in a recent follow-up blog post. The former child star said she “searched [her] whole life” to understand the difference between sex and love, eventually realizing with the help of her therapist that, “Sex is not love! It is the expression of love.”
Now she’s not having sex until she’s in a serious relationship. Barrymore said she’s “just in a completely different place in my life and maybe in the near future I will get into a relationship … but it simply hasn’t been my priority.”
