The 32-year-old pro dancer revealed the news Monday on “Good Morning America,” cradling her stomach while confirming her return to the ABC ballroom this fall. “I am expecting. So I will be dancing with this little baby right here,” she gushed on the program. “Very excited but would be lying if I said it wasn’t a little daunting. I’ve never been this far along pregnant and competing on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ before.”

Carson, who won Season 34 last November with partner Robert Irwin, admitted she initially doubted whether she could handle the competition while four months pregnant. “I’ve been very, very sick this first trimester. I had to say ‘no’ and drop out of a lot of things because I was literally in bed,” she shared during her ABC News interview, noting this pregnancy has been “a lot harder” than her previous two.

Despite the difficulties, Carson said turning down the show was never a real option. “I honestly just couldn’t say ‘no’ to ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ I mean, how can you say no? It’s such an incredible show and it’s really having moment right now and it’s spread so much positivity and joy,” she continued. “I love it. It’s my passion. It’s not only my passion, but it’s the way I provide for my family, provide for my children, and it’s my career. It’s my whole life. It was an easy decision at the end of the day, to do it.”
Carson also dismissed suggestions she might conceal her growing bump with costume tricks. “Someone the other day was like, ‘You can just hide it with some fringe and rhinestones,’ and I was just thinking, ‘I don’t want to hide it,'” she said. “I’m so proud to be a woman, to be creating life, and growing this human, and to be able to do the show and compete and be able to grow this life is such a huge blessing. I’m so proud of it, and I’m going to kick butt while doing it.”

In a second major reveal, Carson announced her Season 35 celebrity partner will be Guillermo Rodriguez, the longtime sidekick on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” “I am going to be dancing with Guillermo and I am thrilled because he just seems like the sweetest, kindest person ever,” she gushed. “I haven’t met him yet, but from what I’ve seen. I’m just really excited. He seems really fun and in this season of my life, that’s perfect. So I couldn’t have asked for a better partner this season.”
Following her “GMA” appearance, Carson posted a family video to social media showing her and husband Carson McAllister telling their two sons about the new baby. “We’ve been keeping a secret… a new addition to the McAllister gang coming soon! We are so grateful and overjoyed to be growing our family 👼,” she captioned the upload.

Carson and McAllister, who married in 2016 after meeting as high school sweethearts in Utah, are already parents to son Leo, 5, born in January 2021, and son Jet, 2, born in May 2023. After Leo’s birth, Carson posted on Instagram about the difficult delivery: “After a really hard 24 hour labor, and an unexpected c-section… we are all healthy and well,” She added, “We are so grateful & we’ve been soaking up every moment with our perfect angel boy. Thank you for all the prayers!”
Jet’s arrival came with its own complications. “He’s here,” Carson simply shared via Instagram Story alongside a hospital photo, later updating followers that her newborn was in the NICU. “Baby is getting 100% oxygen and doing great but breathing a little fast,” she wrote. “They are trying to get it to slow down a little in NICU. Send prayers!” Hours later, she shared relief: “He has to be closely monitored but I’m so happy I’m holding him now.”

In the viral moment that cemented her recent “DWTS” legacy, Carson and Season 34 partner Robert Irwin captured the Mirrorball Trophy in November 2025 after a record-breaking run. Irwin, the 21-year-old wildlife conservationist, became the youngest male winner in franchise history while Carson earned her second pro title, having first won Season 19 with Alfonso Ribeiro. The victory was especially meaningful given Carson’s changed life circumstances. “The first time I won, I was 19 years old, and now I’m 32 so I have kids now, and so, to celebrate with them and my husband was so special,” she said after the finale. “And then the fact that Alfonso gave me the Mirrorball [trophy], it’s kind of like, really full circle for me.”

Carson’s return marks her fifteenth season as a “DWTS” pro, a tenure that began in 2014 after she competed on “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 9. Her decision to compete while pregnant makes her the first pro in franchise history to do so while visibly expecting, though she follows a path similar to past celebrity contestants who danced with child.

“Dancing With the Stars” Season 35 is expected to premiere this fall on ABC.
