Ed Sheeran Donates £1M to Help Children Learn Music

After the ‘effect’ music had on his life, Ed Sheeran has donated nearly £1 million to assist young children to learn it.

The singer’s generosity was recently disclosed in new Sheeran’s charitable foundation accounts.

The 31-year-old father-of-two has donated £500,000 to The Framlington Foundation Trust, named after the Suffolk town where he grew up, to assist young aspiring musicians, having previously donating that amount over the preceding five years.

‘Ed has never forgotten his struggle to reach the top and music’s impact on his life. It is fantastic he’s helping in this way.’

Children can apply to the foundation, known as the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation, for funding for instruments, rehearsal space, and performances.

Ed, who is worth an estimated £180m, said: ‘The reason I’m doing it in Suffolk is [because] it’s the area I grew up, I still live here and I learnt how to play music here and I feel like I’ve had a lot of support from the area and I feel like I wanna give some support back.’

‘It’s like ‘earn a cent, spend a penny,’ said the former busker. It gets out as fast as it comes in. It’s not worth anything to me. […] I place a higher emphasis on the well-being of my friends and family.’

Ed was named the richest British star under thirty for the third year last year, with earnings of £236.5 million.

Ed, who has not just the most-streamed song of all time with Shape Of You, but also the highest-grossing tour of all time with Divide Tour, has raised his estimated value by £26.5 million in the previous year.

It comes after it was found that Ed’s property business had accounts worth more than £38 million, according to the most recent numbers.

According to paperwork, Ed’s Maverick Properties Ltd has £35,769,804 in assets after acquiring £3.012 million in property.

Meanwhile, Maverick Commercial Properties now has £2,687,906 in assets after Ed added £994,342 in property in 2020. The total value of the two accounts is £38,457,710.

Ed’s hospitality firm, That Dive Bar Portobello Ltd, is worth -£565,063, while Fat Punt Ltd is worth -£623,661.

Ed’s finances were approximately £1.2 million in the red due to the shutdown of his bar and restaurant during the lockdown.
