Ellen Pompeo is officially departing “Grey’s Anatomy”. The series star just said goodbye after news of her departure from the long-running drama surfaced.
Ellen made the revelation on social media on Thursday, saying she’s “eternally thankful and humbled” by the love and support she’s had while portraying Meredith Grey on the ABC drama for the past 19 seasons.
Ellen praised the fans in her goodbye statement, saying they were the ones who made her tenure on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ so enjoyable and famous.
As fans of the program are well aware, a teaser for the upcoming “Grey’s Anatomy” midseason premiere depicts Ellen’s character saying her goodbyes to her coworkers as she departs Seattle for Boston. There were also prior speculations that Ellen will be reduced to only 8 episodes in the current season 19, of which she has already featured in 7.
Ellen has participated in over 400 episodes of the series over her long tenure, and while there were recent speculations that she would reconnect with her ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ costar Patrick Dempsey on a new program, Patrick shut down the rumours.
Still, it appears Ellen isn’t giving up on ‘GA,’ as she says, “I’ll surely come back to visit.”
