Erling Haaland reveals his daily diet after smashing a World Cup record

Erling Haaland has opened up about what a typical day of eating looks like for him, including the takeaway he turns to when he gives himself a cheat meal.

The Norway forward, 25, has helped guide his country into the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time ever, with England waiting in Miami on Saturday, July 11.

His impact at the tournament has been huge. Haaland has scored in every game he has played so far at the 2026 World Cup, underlining why he has become one of the most feared forwards in the game.

That kind of output does not come by accident. Alongside his demanding training schedule, the Manchester City striker follows a tightly controlled diet built around high-calorie, nutrient-rich meals.

Speaking previously on the Man City podcast, Haaland said he consumes roughly 6,000 calories per day to support his 6ft 5in build.

He explained that he prefers simple, minimally processed foods such as eggs, milk, red meat, fish and honey, rather than heavily manufactured options.

Like plenty of elite Premier League footballers, he also works with a private chef to keep his nutrition on track.

Haaland said: “I try to eat things that are like real, with as less ingredients as possible.

“I think that’s what I try to do, you’ve got so much processed food in this world right now, it’s important to eat quality.”

Even with that disciplined routine, he still has one favourite indulgence when he decides to relax the rules.

“I love food and I eat so much, but if I cheat I eat kebab pizza,” he admitted.

“I love it, it’s so good, if me and my brother buy it we’re like hyping each other up eating as much as possible.”

More recently, Haaland has shown even more of his day-to-day routine on his own YouTube channel, where he revealed details such as raw milk, tomahawk steaks, coffee with maple syrup and regular recovery work helping him maintain his form.

Despite that confession, Haaland made clear he sees diet as a major part of performance at the top level.

But stressing the importance of nutrition as a high-level athlete, he added: “The better food you put in your body the better you’re going to perform.”

Former Norway international Josh King once said Haaland’s appetite is unlike anything he has seen before.

Speaking on the Cycling GK YouTube channel, he said: “I’ve never, ever seen anyone eat as much as he does. He’s shredded but I don’t know… he just eats like a bear.”

At the 2026 World Cup, Haaland’s goals have fired Norway into the quarter-finals for the first time in the nation’s history, with the striker now preparing for a blockbuster showdown with England in Miami.
