Sydney Sweeney has been drawing attention for what some viewers are calling ‘graphic’ moments in Euphoria season 3, with industry experts discussing whether the material could shape her public image and future roles.
Sweeney first broke through in 2019 playing Cassie Howard in the HBO drama. Since then, she has expanded her résumé with parts in The White Lotus, The Handmaid’s Tale, and other projects.
But as discussion around the new season builds, one specialist has suggested that the show’s more provocative elements could influence how she’s perceived moving forward.
“The risk is that when the public conversation focuses more on the sexualized aspects of the role than on the performance, the same work that made her seem daring can start to narrow the brand,” crisis and reputation management expert Dave Quast told Fox News Digital.

Quast also stressed that sexual themes on screen aren’t automatically a negative, but said potential issues arise when that becomes the main thing audiences associate with an actor.
He added that Sweeney’s task now is ensuring sexually charged roles don’t become her whole identity in the public eye, and that they “continue to read as character choices”. While he didn’t say it necessarily harms her image, he argued her next projects are important. Rather than avoiding that type of material altogether, he suggested “pairing it with roles that are emotionally, intellectually or dramatically specific,” he notes.
At the same time, the EDQ Strategies founder pointed out that widespread attention can be valuable in commercial terms, saying ‘visibility is currency’ and carries ‘real commercial value’.
Still, another perspective offered a caution: crisis PR and reputation management expert Kelcey Kintner told the publication that ‘all the headlines’ about Sweeney’s body and the explicit scenes can make it ‘harder for the public to focus on her talent’.
In season 3, Cassie’s storyline has repeatedly surprised viewers, particularly with the character’s OnlyFans arc. In the series, she turns to the platform as a way to fund an expensive wedding to Nate, played by Jacob Elordi.
However, some audiences believe the show has pushed the concept too far. One recent moment that raised eyebrows involved content aimed at a giant-person fetish, known as macrophilia.

In the sequence, Cassie is shown tearing out of a catsuit as she transforms into a ‘giant’, before crushing a skyscraper with her chest while stomping through a miniature town.
After that scene—following other provocative moments earlier in the season—some viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their reactions.
“I’m convinced this season of Euphoria is a Sydney Sweeney humiliation ritual,” one fan said, while another wondered whether the actor was truly comfortable with how much nudity the role involves.
And the OnlyFans storyline hasn’t stopped there. In another moment, Cassie is depicted wrestling a python while wearing only a thong.
Earlier in the season, another scene left viewers stunned when she appeared in a ‘baby inspired outfit’ and was shown sucking on a dummy.
The theme is commonly referred to as age play, though similar content could soon face restrictions in the UK under proposed laws from the British government.
With just one episode remaining, viewers are still speculating about what the finale could include.
