As huge waves from Manila Bay crashed over the breakwater in the midst of a typhoon, a young boy lovingly shielded a stray cat against the elements with a large plastic sheet while she gave birth.
Such was the touching scene that photojournalist Linus Escandor witnessed last Sunday while photographing the tumultuous bay as typhoon Egay roared through the Philippine capital.
The boy, whose identity is still unknown, seemed genuinely concerned for the cats, leading to this very simple yet unusual act of kindness.
A local animal welfare group has since rescued the cats.
Whoever this mystery boy is, he has restored our faith in humanity.
