Florida Learjet Passenger’s Sister Reveals Harrowing Details of Final Moments as GoFundMe Launches

Angie Ramirez Cetina has shared harrowing details of her final video call with her sister Anita, who died in a Florida Learjet crash.

Anita Ramirez Cetina, 24, reached out to Angie shortly before boarding the private jet on November 1. During the call, she showed Angie the children she cared for and the aircraft she was about to travel on. The sisters spoke as Anita prepared for what was meant to be a celebratory trip to the Bahamas.

“She was very happy. She was truly happy because she had never been to the Bahamas, and even though she was working, she didn’t see it as work. She enjoyed it,” Angie told The US Sun.

Angie said Anita had been excited about the journey, which was planned to mark the birthday of her employer, technology entrepreneur Adam Robinson. The 24-year-old nanny, who was weeks away from turning 25, did not treat the trip as merely part of her job.

“We did a video call, she showed me the children, she showed me the plane,” Angie told the outlet.

Originally from Colombia, Anita had moved to the US two years earlier and worked as a biomedical engineer before becoming a nanny. She cared for Robinson’s children, Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2, alongside his wife, Helen Sharp. Angie said her sister adored the family and was happy in her role.

The Learjet 60 had departed from Austin, Texas, and was heading to the Bahamas when it crashed in Palm Beach County, killing all nine people on board. Seven passengers and two crew members died in the incident. Dashcam footage captured the aircraft descending rapidly from around 8,000 feet before hitting the ground near a mobile home park and bursting into flames on impact.

Pilot Jeffrey Gregory, 55, and co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20, were also killed. The passengers included Robinson, Sharp, their two children, and the couple’s friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr.

For Angie, learning about the crash did not immediately make the loss feel real. She had seen news of the accident and tracked the aircraft’s route, but struggled to accept that her sister might have been among those on board.

“I saw the accident, I saw the flight path, and truthfully, I didn’t want to accept that it might be my sister on the plane,” she said.

Robinson founded software companies Retention.com, MoltSets and RB2B. The Bahamas trip was organized to celebrate his birthday, with Anita accompanying the family to help care for Emma and Charlie during the vacation.

Angie has since spoken about her disbelief when she realized Anita could have been among those involved in the fatal crash. The sisters’ final conversation now stands as the last time Angie saw her sister alive.

A GoFundMe has been established to help the family during this difficult time.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash, which occurred after the aircraft experienced a rapid descent from cruising altitude. The wreckage came down in a residential area, though no one on the ground was injured.

Angie continues to grapple with the sudden loss of her sister, who had built a new life in the United States and found joy in caring for the Robinson children.
