#1. Start eating right.
You can spend all your hard-earned cash on pizza throughout your 20s, but when you’re older you can’t buy your health. Step away from the nachos and your future self will thank you.
#2. Start saving money (however little).
Okay, so it sounds super boring, but do you really need everything you buy? All that disposable income you’re throwing around now could be going towards a cruise around the Bahamas one day. Just saying.
#3. Give back.
Try to do an unbelievably kind thing for someone (who’ll never know you did it) as often as you can. You’ll feel amazing.
#4. Maintain good relationships and work to fix broken ones.
Whether it’s parents and siblings or old friends you’ve lost touch with, make an effort to keep people close and never, ever take your friends and family for granted.
#5. Collect memories, not stuff.
Don’t wake up one day in the future and look around at your million-dollar mansion; wake up and think back on all the awesome fun you’ve had in life (and are still to have). Tell stories. Reminisce.
#6. Start meditating.
Taking a little time out of your day to be present, mindful, and grateful will improve your mind, body, and soul in ways you’d never expect.
#7. Look after your teeth.
Just go to the dentist. Go. It’ll only get worse (and cost you more) if you don’t. Go. Go now.
#8. Be curious.
Go on an adventure (once you’re back from the dentist). Take a risk, see new things, ask questions; start making those memories.
#9. Read as many books as you can.
Find something you like, put down the smartphone, and pick up a book. You want your brain to be in good condition for a long time, so give it a workout.
#10. Wear sunscreen.
A tan looks great, but as you get older that glowing brown skin will become sun spots and wrinkles. Some people advise wearing sunscreen every day for great skin, but at the very least wear plenty in hot sun.
#11. Take up a sport.
Start your active lifestyle today and you’ll feel fantastic for years to come. Head outside, make some friends and get moving.
#12. Love yourself (or, at least, like yourself).
Stop giving yourself a hard time; your happiness is up to you, not your bank balance, not your job and not your friend’s glamorous Instagram snaps. Accept yourself for who you are; you’re awesome, we promise.
#13. Get lots of good sleep.
Sleep rejuvenates your mind and body, so make sure you get enough and try to stick to a decent routine. Stop scrolling Facebook or watching TV in bed — it’s time to relax.
#14. Chase your biggest dreams.
Whatever it is you want, go get it. Or at least try to. It’s easy to put things off, but one day, for one reason or another, you won’t be able to chase your dreams — there really is no time like the present.
#15. Stop smoking.
Do we really need to tell you why? Just stop.
#16. Keep a diary.
Write every day down and you’ll be able to look back on things you didn’t realize you’d forgotten. Whether it’s digital or on paper, fill it with photos and funny memories, favorite songs, whatever — you’ll treasure it one day and so will your family.
#17. Be silly with your friends.
Find people who make you feel awesome and spend time laughing with them. Make life happier for them and you.
#18. Travel.
Whether it’s a round the world trip or driving to a new town, get out and see the world, because it’s got a whole lot to teach you.
#19. And stop comparing yourself to others.
One day you won’t care who’s got what, so stop wasting all that energy worrying about everyone else and go do something amazing.
