A woman from Tennessee was arrested after a video of her letting out a child from a kennel was spread online.
Leimome Cheeks, who is a 62-year-old resident of Memphis, Tennessee was charged with two counts of child endangerment said the Memphis Police Department.
The woman admitted to police that she drove from Whitehaven to Collierville while her two grandchildren were inside kennels in the back of her truck.
The children, who were aged 8 and 9, reportedly said that the kennels were very hot on Saturday as temperatures in Memphis reached 95 degrees.
The children’s grandmother allegedly told the two children to go inside the kennels since there was no space in the vehicle’s trunk.
Cheeks’ neighbors said that she recently brought home two puppies, which is why the kennel was in her vehicle. Her neighbors were shocked when they found out that was what she did with her two grandchildren.
“I’m still shocked. I really can’t see her doing that. She’s such a nice lady,” a neighbor told a news site.
“I think she needs some help. Something is going on with her. If she did that, then that’s out of character for her,” Neighbor Eugene Richmond said.
The 62-year-old will appear in court on Monday.
