Historic Glass-Plate Photos From Romania Transformed Into Beautiful Color Prints

Costică Acsinte was an official WWI photographer until 15th of June 1920. Born in the small village of Perieți in Romania, Acsinte was also a pilot during the war.

But his passion was photography and as soon as the war was over he opened a studio “Foto Splendid C. Acsinte” in Slobozia.

Australian artist Jane Long fell in love with Ascinte’s photographs and set about restoring, recoloring and transforming the images into beautiful prints from a forgotten past.

The series will be exhibited as part of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale from August 22nd. The BIFB is a month-long festival of contemporary Australian and international photography.
