Jay Leno is recovering.
The 72-year-old former “Tonight Show” host was released from the hospital on Monday, appearing joyful and healthy as he posed for a selfie with Grossman Burn Center employees after healing from “severe” burns.
“After a 10-day stay at the facility, Jay will receive follow-up care at the Grossman Outpatient Burn Clinic for burns to his face, chest and hands he received during a fire at his home garage,” doctors shared in a press release.
“Jay would like to let everyone know how thankful he is for the care he received, and is very appreciative of all of the well wishes.
“He is looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with his family and friends and wishes everyone a wonderful holiday.”
Dr. Peter Grossman said that he was “pleased” with Leno’s improvement and “optimistic” that the comedian would recover completely.
Leno’s facial scars may be seen along his jawline and neck. His left hand appears to be seriously burnt, whilst his right hand appears to be in better condition. Leno was earlier seen lying in a hyperbaric chamber with his left arm wrapped up to his elbow.
Leno also had two grafting surgeries performed to remove bad tissue and enhance recovery.
The “Jay Leno’s Garage” presenter said last week that he was working on his 115-year-old automobile when an explosion occurred due to a gasoline leak and a simultaneous spark in the 1907 White Steam Car.
