Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Embarrassing Comment She Made After Kissing Co-Star Bradley Cooper

Jennifer Lawrence has revealed the cringeworthy comment she made to Bradley Cooper right after filming their big kiss scene for Silver Linings Playbook.

The actress, 36, shared the embarrassing exchange during a recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper. She admitted she was extremely nervous going into the 2011 David O’Russell film because of her co-star’s massive fame at the time. Cooper had just starred in The Hangover, making him the biggest celebrity Lawrence had ever worked with.

“He was in The Hangover. He was the biggest celebrity I think I ever met at that time. And I was like, ‘Watch this. Hold my beer’,” Lawrence said on the podcast.

The Oscar winner explained that her attempt at bravado backfired immediately after they finished their “big makeout session” that closes the romantic comedy. She turned to Cooper and asked, “Aren’t you so sick of kissing?”

“He didn’t like that,” Lawrence admitted. “It was one of those moments where a joke falls flat.”

She added that Cooper did laugh about the comment afterwards, easing some of the awkwardness. The exchange came during a period when Lawrence was privately struggling with confidence despite projecting the opposite.

Lawrence also revealed that she faked self-assurance about her dancing abilities throughout filming, though she personally believed her moves were terrible. The production eventually required her to do ADR work to add dialogue explaining her character’s lack of skill. She had to record lines saying, “Yeah, I’m not that good of a dancer, but I like it, It’s fun, it makes me happy,” because her actual dancing was so poor it needed narrative justification within the film.

The actress further admitted she never anticipated how successful Silver Linings Playbook would become. “You never really do – unless you’re making The Hunger Games or whatever. But no. And I felt like the whole time like I don’t get it. Like, what is this movie about?” she said.

The podcast appearance wasn’t Lawrence’s only recent discussion of uncomfortable on-set kissing experiences. She also addressed long-circulating rumors that she deliberately ate pungent foods before kissing Liam Hemsworth during The Hunger Games filming.

Hemsworth had previously claimed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that Lawrence would announce her pre-scene meals to him. “Right before the scene, she’d be like, ‘Yeah, I ate tuna,’ or ‘I had garlic, and I didn’t brush my teeth’. And I’d be like, ‘Fantastic, I can’t wait to get in there and taste it!'” Hemsworth said during his appearance.

Lawrence pushed back against the idea that this was intentional sabotage. “I think that like… I don’t even know what to say, Liam,” she responded on Call Her Daddy. “We are filming for many months and filming takes a lot of time. He made it seem like that’s just like something I did like on purpose. Like, I would just… eat tuna.”

While confirming she does enjoy tuna, Lawrence insisted she never deliberately consumed it before their kissing scenes. The actress, now a mother of two, has become increasingly candid about her early Hollywood experiences as she reflects on her rapid rise to fame.
