Jessica Chastain Criticized by Fans for Online Dispute with Airline Over Unusual Matter

Jessica Chastain found herself in the midst of online criticism as internet users urged her to ‘read the room’ following an exchange with a budget airline.

Amidst one of Florida’s most severe hurricanes in a century and a pivotal political atmosphere in the US, Chastain publicly addressed a dispute with Jet Blue.

The acclaimed actress of Interstellar and Molly’s Game took to Twitter on Wednesday (October 9) to voice her dissatisfaction after she and her husband each paid $1,500 for a flight with the airline.

In her post, Chastain included a screenshot of a message from Jet Blue, revealing she was given $15 in onboard travel credit.

She tagged Jet Blue in the post and explained her complaint stemmed from having paid for an in-flight entertainment system that ‘didn’t work for the duration of [her] 6hr flight’.

Chastain also noted that the credit was merely ‘1/100’ of what she spent on the trip.

Jet Blue responded, requesting that she message them directly, and Chastain shared a screenshot of their conversation.

In the exchange, a Jet Blue representative informed Chastain that flight attendants had offered ‘$15 each for the TV outage’.

Chastain replied: “I understand but I spent $1500 on the flight and so did my husband. There should be some flight credit or something since I have a TrueBlue account and have been a loyal customer.”

Jet Blue reiterated that the $15 was indeed a flight credit, and the representative was unable to provide more.

After the interaction was shared, Twitter users expressed confusion over Chastain’s frustration, with many noting her financial capability.

Her estimated net worth ranges from $12 million to $50 million, establishing her as a millionaire.

Despite the inconvenience of a non-functioning TV during a flight, fans have advised Chastain to ‘read the room’.

“Girl read the room? You’re a millionaire flying a budget airline,” one response noted.

On Reddit, another user commented: “Like she paid for the flight. She took the flight. Why be offended a budget airline doesn’t have working amenities lmao.”

Conversely, some individuals have commended Chastain for addressing the airline issue, with one suggesting companies might be ‘more likely to do something [about it]’ when a celebrity highlights the problem.
