Khloé Kardashian responds after heavy backlash over billboard appearance

Khloé Kardashian has issued a response after facing intense backlash online, sparked by a viral billboard featuring the reality star — and critics say it’s not the first time she’s been accused of the same thing.

Controversy has long followed the Kardashian family.

From cheating headlines and friendship fallouts to ad campaigns and claims of over-edited selfies, the sisters frequently find themselves at the centre of widespread debate, with fans and critics watching their every move.

This week, however, the spotlight has landed on Khloé — Kris Jenner’s youngest Kardashian daughter — and not in a flattering way.

The mother-of-two is being criticised online after a billboard promoting her new “protein chips” started circulating widely.

TikTok users pointed out that the 41-year-old appeared strikingly similar to Beyoncé in the image, prompting accusations of “blackfishing” — a claim that has been levelled at her before.

“Blackfishing” is a term used to describe situations in which white people alter their appearance — through heavy makeup, tanning, hairstyles, and sometimes photo editing — to look Black or mixed-race.

Khloé previously faced similar accusations in October 2023 when she dressed as a Bratz doll for Halloween.

At the time, some followers said she was “unrecognizable,” pointing to photos she shared on Instagram where her skin appeared notably darker than usual.

“I love u khlo but this ain’t it! You didn’t have to become darker to be a bratz doll,” one fan wrote.

While another added: “Girl I thought this was a random Black woman.”

Now, she’s responded again after people claimed the new billboard repeats the same pattern.

One user said: “She’s Khloé, and she’s black, and she’s back!”

As another commented: “This isn’t even blackfishing at this point, that’s an identity crisis!”

“A white woman being the same shade as a black woman,” a third wrote on X.

It appears the posts reached Khloé directly, as she commented under the upload: “I’m crying [laughing crying emoji] what is going on”

People quickly responded to her remark, with one writing: “You know you approved that photo girl.”

“She said mission accomplished,” another wrote.

The backlash arrives shortly after Khloé revealed she’s executive producing a new Hulu reality series titled The Girls, which will follow her “inner circle of real-life besties.”
