Learjet passenger made a devastating final call to their sister before crash killed 9

Angie Ramirez Cetina received a final video call from her sister Anita just before the doomed Learjet took off from Texas.

Anita Ramirez Cetina, 24, dialed her sister from the tarmac in Austin on Nov. 1 to share her excitement about the upcoming trip to the Bahamas, showing off the two young children in her care and the private jet itself. The Colombian-born nanny, who had arrived in the US just two years earlier, was weeks shy of her 25th birthday when she perished in the fiery crash that killed all nine people aboard.

“We did a video call, she showed me the children, she showed me the plane,” Angie Ramirez Cetina told The US Sun in Spanish from Colombia.

“She was very happy. She was truly happy because she had never been to the Bahamas, and even though she was working, she didn’t see it as work. She enjoyed it.”

The aircraft, bound for the tropical destination to celebrate the birthday of tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson, plummeted in a terrifying nosedive near a mobile home park in Palm Beach, Florida. The founder of software companies Retention.com, MoltSets and RB2B had boarded with his wife Helen Sharp, their daughter Emma, 4, son Charlie, 2, and two adult friends, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr.

Jeffrey Gregory, 55, and his co-pilot Nathalia Filgueiras, 20, died at the controls of the jet.

Angie Ramirez Cetina said her sister had absolutely loved working for the Robinson family. The biomedical engineer by training had found her calling in childcare abroad, embracing a role that let her travel with the household she served.

The sister’s final exchange with Anita left no hint of the catastrophe minutes away. The video call captured only brightness — a young woman eager for her first Bahamian adventure, surrounded by the toddlers she adored, inside a luxury she had likely never experienced before coming to America.

“I saw the accident, I saw the flight path, and truthfully, I didn’t want to accept that it might be my sister on the plane,” Angie Ramirez Cetina told The US Sun.

The crash unfolded in broad daylight, the aircraft’s final descent caught on camera as it dove toward the ground in a fireball that left no survivors among the nine aboard. Investigators have not yet released a probable cause for the tragedy that claimed one of the youngest commercial co-pilots in recent memory alongside a family celebrating a patriarch’s birthday and the nanny who had become essential to their lives.

Anita Ramirez Cetina’s journey from Colombia to the United States had been brief — just two years of building a life before it ended on that Texas runway. Her sister now holds the last images of her alive: two small children waving, the gleaming interior of a private jet, a smile full of anticipation for islands she would never see.

The Robinson family and their friends Reed and Fehr had been regulars in Austin’s tech and social circles, with Adam Robinson’s startups drawing significant venture attention in recent years. Their decision to fly private to the Bahamas reflected a lifestyle increasingly common among wealthy American entrepreneurs, one that placed them aboard a Learjet with a flight crew whose combined age barely exceeded that of some single commercial airline captains.
