Lizzo acknowledged Kanye West’s mention of her on primetime television to condemn obesity, but she appears to be taking the high road… straight to Canada.
The singer was singing at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on Friday when she took a break to address Ye’s statements against her on Tucker Carlson’s show earlier this week – and her answer was to seek sanctuary up north.
Lizzo claims everyone in America has something to say about her, but she just goes about her business. To emphasize her argument, she prefaced it with “fat, Black, beautiful”
She then begs if she may stay, to which the audience applauds. Lizzo openly pondered if she could marry someone for dual citizenship… and received a hearty chuckle.
She didn’t expressly address Kanye, similar to the method she used when Aries Spears recently blasted her. She didn’t really lay into him there, though… merely said she’d let her success speak for itself, despite others wanting her to “clap back.”
Kanye used Lizzo to make a point about people allegedly protesting the idea of bettering themselves through weight reduction, which he branded “demonic” and a “genocide of the Black race.”
He didn’t expand further, but Lizzo definitely disagrees.
