Man consuming a whole roast chicken daily shares unexpected impacts on his body

A man who consumes a whole roast chicken every day has shared the unexpected effects it has had on his body.

We all have meals we prefer, but eating the same dish daily for an entire year is certainly unusual.

James Ellis is on a quest to eat an entire roast chicken every day as part of his unique challenge.

Despite the repetitive nature of his diet, Ellis ensures variety by purchasing roast chickens from diverse sources, ranging from budget-friendly grocery stores to upscale dining establishments.

The idea for this unusual undertaking came to Ellis after witnessing a friend consume a whole chicken back in 2025, inspiring him to embark on this peculiar 2025 challenge.

Ellis explained to news.com.au: “We were doing this big project and at the end of one of the days, he went to IGA and got a roast chicken and six beers.

“He just ate the whole chicken and drank all the beers in one sitting. I just thought it was the funniest thing ever.”

Although roast chicken is not the unhealthiest food choice, a doctor cautioned that “long-term excessive consumption presents multiple health concerns,” as reported by the New York Post.

Ellis commented: “I have been reading the comments and I am just amused at all the armchair doctors who seem to think I’ll be dead in a month.

“I ate McDonald’s and a fast food diet and smoked 20 cigarettes a day for a decade. I’m not dead yet. I don’t think chickens will be what does it.”

In an interview with UNILAD, Ellis mentioned: “I feel fine, no different to before I started. I’m pretty doubtful I’ll have any health complications due to it, it would have to be life-threatening for me to stop.”

Dr. Zac Turner discussed potential health risks with news.com.au that the roast chicken enthusiast might encounter in the future.

“While high protein intake can be beneficial in certain scenarios — such as short-term bulking phases or competition prep for elite athletes — long-term excessive consumption presents multiple health concerns,” the health expert stated.

“While consuming high protein in the short term, combined with adequate hydration, exercise, and balanced micronutrients, can be beneficial, a long-term diet of an entire roast chicken daily is not advisable.

“The nutritional imbalance, kidney and liver stress, cardiovascular strain, and lack of fibre would likely lead to severe metabolic and systemic health issues over time.”
