A man recently revealed his Cybertruck order receipt, leaving many people astonished at the price he paid for the futuristic vehicle.
It’s been several months since the much-awaited Tesla Cybertruck hit the market, with celebrities like Jay-Z, Kim Kardashian, and Justin Bieber being seen driving the vehicle.
Launched in the United States in November 2023, Tesla founder Elon Musk assured that the Cybertruck was exceptionally safe, even suggesting that if it “had an argument” with another vehicle, “you will win.”
That’s certainly an interesting way to put it.
Despite these assurances, car safety experts have raised concerns about the potential danger the Cybertruck poses to those outside the vehicle rather than its passengers.
The primary concern is the material Tesla used for the car’s body, referred to as ‘ultra-hard stainless-steel.’
Most modern cars are equipped with a safety feature known as a ‘crumple zone.’ This part of the car is designed to collapse during a crash to absorb the impact force, protecting the occupants.
While it may seem counterintuitive, this feature effectively ensures that the force of an impact is absorbed by the crumple zone rather than the passengers.
However, the Cybertruck has faced criticism for seemingly lacking this important safety feature. Given its large size and high speed capabilities, it is unlikely to stop if it collides with another car.
Regardless of these safety concerns, many people have gone ahead and purchased the Cybertruck, though owning one doesn’t come cheap.
“Finally the future will look like the future,” Musk declared during the car’s announcement.
However, embracing the future with a Cybertruck requires a significant financial investment.
This was demonstrated by a Reddit user who shared his receipt for the Cybertruck, leaving many surprised by the high cost.
Reddit user UTECHPIA spent a total of $122,135 on his Cybertruck, a vehicle he might have to wait years to drive.
Some reports suggest that Cybertruck orders could be fulfilled as early as 2024, while others estimate the wait could extend up to five years.
Even so, the Reddit user is excited about his Cybertruck and wrote: “WILL IT ARRIVE in 2023? What do you guys think?
“I’m so excited, I got the email invite to put in my order on Fri, Dec 8, 7:30 PM PT, and placed my order within 5 minutes!”
The man appears to be a big Tesla enthusiast, already owning a 2023 Tesla MYP, the high-performance SUV from Musk’s company.
Many Reddit users flooded the comments section, expressing their shock at the vehicle’s price.
“I didn’t think anyone was going to buy it with the massive price hikes and feature reductions. I guess I was wrong,” one person commented.
Another added: “Want one, but that price tag.”
Meanwhile, a third joked: “I really want to do this, but then I would be cyberhomeless.”
