For many of us, ‘Man Versus Food’ star Adam Richman is a hero of sorts. There’s just something profoundly satisfying with the way he gobbles down giant burgers and racks of ribs on the regular. So these words are probably the last thing anyone would expect him to say:

“I’ve been vegan for the past three months or so, because I’m in training for football right now.”
His decision to go 100% vegan is mainly due to his impending participation in the forthcoming Soccer Aid tournament, a UNICEF celebrity event.
Seeing himself in old episodes of his shows also plays a part in his newfound and considerably more responsible relationship with food.
“I was so unhappy with the way I looked in the rushes that I just said, ‘OK, something has to change’. And I mean being unhappy and doing something about it are not one of the same thing. And so I worked with my doctor and worked with my nutritionist and made a lifestyle change,” he said.
These remarkable statements notwithstanding, however, his Instagram account seems to show that he still regularly consumes meat.
“Pork belly. Get in my belly,” he posted 2 weeks ago.
So it looks like he is using the term “vegan” quite lightly.
