Elon Musk has long made fun of the idea of populating Mars with his offspring.
On Thursday, Mark Cuban spoke on the “Full Send” podcast and shared a story about the time he texted the billionaire Tesla CEO following the birth of one of his children.
“He had another kid, right? This was before the last 3, or whatever it was,” Cuban remarked, most likely alluding to the three children Musk had in 2021 with the musician Grimes and a Neuralink executive.
“I’m like, ‘Dude, congratulations, how many are you going to have?.’ He sends me a text back, ‘Mars needs people,'” Cuban said.
Musk presently has 9 known children and frequently expresses his worries about future underpopulation, stating once that rapidly dropping birth rates are “one of the biggest risks to civilization” in a speech to the Wall Street Journal’s annual CEO council.
He later tweeted: “if there aren’t enough people for Earth, then there definitely won’t be enough for Mars.”
