A 56-year-old woman was arrested outside the Lindsay Clancy trial Tuesday after allegedly filming jurors as they left the courthouse.
Dawn Light of Sutton, Massachusetts, was handcuffed by Massachusetts State Police around 3:40 p.m. Outside Plymouth Superior Court, authorities said. She faces one charge of intimidation of a witness, jurors, or person furnishing information in connection with criminal proceedings, and was slated for arraignment Wednesday.
The arrest came just after the nine-woman, three-man jury had asked to be dismissed for the day at the 23-hour mark of deliberations, according to Court TV. Sources said Boston reporter Kristin Rex that “Someone (who is not a media member) was arrested outside” the courthouse and is “accused of filming jurors in Lindsay Clancy’s trial,” she wrote on X.
“Jurors allegedly saw the filming happening,” she added on the platform.
The timing raised immediate concerns about potential impact on the deadlocked panel. At the 18-hour mark Tuesday morning, the jury had advised the judge they were deadlocked — but were instructed to continue working toward a verdict in a case that has drawn intense national and international attention.
The consensus among experts is “There was always going to be a very high probability that there would be a deadlock jury in this case,” veteran Boston criminal defense attorney Peter Elikann told The Post.
Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, told reporters Tuesday he would “absolutely” stick with the killer’s mom’s case if it ended with a hung jury and was retried.
“I would try it again,” Reddington said, adding that Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz “would never drop it. That’s for sure.”
Throughout the almost 24 hours of jury deliberations, Clancy has been “sad,” according to Reddington, who added that he doesn’t believe Clancy would be able to emotionally handle another trial.
The trial has attracted a dedicated following, with supporters camped outside the Massachusetts courthouse in solidarity. Mary Stacey, 68, a retired accountant from Worcester, told The Post that Clancy’s triple-murder trial is “bigger” than OJ Simpson’s shocking 1995 double-murder case.
“It’s gone more international,” Stacey said as she waited for the verdict outside the courtroom. “It’s the subject matter — postpartum psychosis and it’s more about mental illness.”
Clancy, 36, a former nurse, is on trial for strangling her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan — to death with exercise bands inside their Duxbury home on Jan. 24, 2023. She wants the jury to find her not guilty by reason of insanity on the grounds she was experiencing severe postpartum psychosis when she murdered her kids and tried to kill herself, intensified by a slew of powerful psychiatric medications doctors had prescribed her. The trial kicked off on July 20.
The jury is slated to return at 9 a.m. Wednesday for day five of deliberations.
