Hold up, did you see this wild video? It looks like a McDonald’s employee decided to turn a food heat lamp into a DIY mop dryer!
Check out the wild scene captured on video:
When you walk into a McDonald’s, you’re used to seeing stacks of fries and burgers cozily sitting under heat lamps, ready to jump into your next meal. It’s a pretty comforting sight for anyone with a hankering for some fast food.
But this latest video circulating the web might just change the way you look at those inviting heat lamps.
Originally shared on the Facebook page Subtle Bogan Hints, the footage reportedly comes from a McDonald’s in Booval, Ipswich, about 18 miles south-west of Brisbane, Australia.
The video captures what looks like a standard setup: fries heaped in a metal bin with extra bags perched above. But then things take a weird turn.
Instead of just spotlighting the food, there’s a McDonald’s worker using the heat lamp to dry a mop head. Yes, you read that right—a mop getting a warm-up where your fries usually chill.
The mop’s previous adventures remain a mystery, but it’s safe to say no one wants it anywhere near their snack.
Since hitting Facebook, the video has sparked a mix of reactions, from amused to downright disgusted.
One Facebook user quipped, “The old McMop is back! Must be limited time-only – get in while they are hot.” While others didn’t find it so funny.
Comments ranged from calling the employee ‘brainless’ to slamming the entire place as ‘filthy’.
McDonald’s quickly jumped into action, stating that they’re treating the whole mop saga with the utmost seriousness.
A rep from the burger empire told MailOnline that they are sticklers for cleanliness and hygiene, and that the incident called for some serious retraining at the implicated restaurant.
“[We have] conducted thorough re-training for all employees on McDonald’s sanitisation, hygiene and food safety procedures,” a spokesperson explained. They assured that this mishap was a one-off and are making moves to prevent a repeat.
According to reports from Daily Mail Australia, the mop-wielding staff member has been spoken to but will keep her job.
