Megyn Kelly Mourns Sudden Death of Sister Suzanne

Suzanne Crossley, Megyn Kelly’s sister, died of a heart attack on Friday. She was 58 years old. Kelly, 51, announced the news on Monday during the first section of her show.

“Something really sad happened in my family over the weekend,” she shared. “My sister died, she was 58, her name was Suzanne Crossley and she died suddenly on Friday of a heart attack.”

Kelly stated that her sister’s health has deteriorated in recent years. Her death, on the other hand, was quick and unexpected. During the interview, the former Today anchor also revealed that at the time of her death, she was with her mother, brother, and one of Crossley’s sons.

“So, it was very hard,” she said. “It was extremely emotional. My poor mom, as all moms and dads know, this is not the order in which this is supposed to happen.”

Kelly stated that her program on Tuesday has already been filmed and that she plans to spend the time with her family. Despite her sister’s death, Kelly claimed that going to work on Monday helped her get her mind off it for a few hours, and she described her job as “cathartic.”

The podcast presenter stated that she will have more to say about her sister’s death in the coming weeks and that she is still processing it.

Crossley’s passing has taught Kelly the importance of being close to the people she cares about.

“It’s just a reminder to hug the people you love. How short and tenuous life is and how important it is to stay close to the people you love,” the mother of three said. “We all can’t be perfect on that front, but we can make a little effort day by day to shoot a text or return a call. I’m never really good at that. So that was a reminder to me.”

Kelly grew very affected as she described a babysitter who lived with her mother and sister displaying the “real essence of humanity.” Kelly revealed that the woman phoned her and said she would have her husband drop her off at the hospital to be at Kelly’s mother’s side when he finished his cancer treatment at another hospital, so she wouldn’t be alone.

“That is what it is to be a true human being,” Kelly said.

Kelly also stated that she will go to be with her family and that Crossley’s funeral will take place on Tuesday.

Kelly begged her listeners to pray for her family before signing off.

“Spare a prayer for my mom, my sister’s kids, and my sister’s one grandchild,” she asked. “I would appreciate it. They ‘re hurting today.”
