Milania Giudice, 20, appeared virtually in Montville Township Municipal Court on Tuesday, July 14, where she appeared with her attorney, Alan Kraminsky, and the judge explained the charge against Milania, stating that she “did knowingly cause bodily injury to another, specifically by striking the victim LR in the head with her fist, causing redness to the middle of the victim’s forehead during a domestic dispute,” on May 14.
The prosecutor requested the hearing be postponed.
Kraminsky told the judge he had met with the prosecutor, who asked to postpone their hearing so that his client could complete an anger management course. Milania is due back in court next month, and the judge told her that if she’s convicted, she could face up to six months in jail, probation, and fines of up to $500.
Milania had allegedly been throwing food and candles before her sister, Gabriella Giudice, called 911, saying Milania was acting erratically at her mom’s house, which she shares with husband Louie Ruelas. Giudice’s lawyer submitted a not guilty plea on her behalf, court records show.
The incident occurred at Teresa’s Montville home in May.
The 20-year-old daughter of Teresa Giudice looked solemn as she sat next to her attorney, Alan Kraminsky, and is facing a potential sentence of up to six months in jail, probation, and fines exceeding $500 if found guilty. According to the arrest report obtained by the outlet, Milania had allegedly been throwing food and candles, with her sister reporting the domestic incident to the police after she allegedly was “acting erratically”.
More than a month after her May arrest, Milania addressed the case.
“That mug shot of me, you guys really believe that’s AI?” Milania said in a June 28 TikTok video. “I ate down in my mug shot. I looked fire. I mean, nothing to be proud of, but I’m being sure of that.”
She characterized the incident as part of personal struggles.
“I mean, it is what it is,” she said. “S–t happens in life, and it is what it is. You got to learn from it, just become a better person, and talk about it, and I just was not in a good area in my life.”
Milania expanded on her emotional state at the time.
“I just was not in a good area in my life. I’ve been through a lot in life, and some other stuff happened to me.”
She pushed back on assumptions about her life.
“Just because you guys think you know everything that happens in my life, you just really don’t.”
The University of Tampa student had largely remained silent since her arrest.
She recently completed her sophomore year at the University of Tampa. Police dashcam footage showed officers placing a handcuffed Milania in a police car following her detainment.
In the viral moment that sparked this case, Gabriella Giudice called 911, saying Milania was acting erratically at their mother’s home, which she shares with husband Louie Ruelas. Milania had allegedly been throwing food and candles before officers arrived. The victim in the case is identified in court documents only by initials “L.R.,” which could match several people associated with the household.
On July 14, the Real Housewives of New Jersey offspring appeared in court via Zoom alongside her attorney and entered a plea of not guilty. The judge noted during the hearing that if the 20-year-old is found guilty, “as it’s written, it carries with it the possibility of six months in jail, probation and fines in excess of $500.
Milania’s case comes as she manages her college studies.
The next hearing is scheduled for September 22.
