Millie Bobby Brown has said she continues to follow the firm boundaries set by her Enola Holmes co-star Henry Cavill.
Brown and Cavill appear together in Netflix’s Enola Holmes films, with Brown leading the franchise as Enola and Cavill playing her famous older brother, Sherlock Holmes.
Although Sherlock is one of fiction’s most recognisable detectives, the films place the spotlight on Enola and her own adventures.
The first instalment arrived in 2020, followed by a second movie in 2022, and the third sequel arrived on Netflix on July 1, 2026.
Brown first rose to fame as Eleven in Stranger Things, and began playing Enola during the gap between the show’s third and fourth seasons.
She has previously spoken about how Cavill approached their working relationship differently from the more relaxed dynamic she shared with her Stranger Things castmates.

While promoting the second film in 2022, Brown explained that Cavill had clear limits in place, including topics involving his private life.
“The funny thing with Henry and I is we’re like brother and sister, so like my big brother, he’s like, ‘Millie, no, I’m not doing that,’ and it’s just like, you go, ‘Okay’,” she told Metro.
“You’ve just kind of got to respect it because you’re like, I’m not going to argue, you know?”
She added: “You’re just like my brother, I love you, and then I’m also like, ‘No, I’m not doing that!’. I’m very much like that with Henry, but it kind of replicates my actual relationship with my brother, Charlie.”
Brown also contrasted that with her experience on Stranger Things, where she grew up alongside much of the cast and formed a more sibling-like bond with them.

Speaking to Deadline, she explained how different the two environments felt.
“It’s different because I grew up with Noah and Charlie. I met them when I was 10. So, for me, it does feel like your schoolmates,” she said in an interview with Deadline.
“And with Henry, it feels like a real adult relationship. Like a really good friendship, a really healthy one.”
She went on to describe Cavill as someone who keeps firm rules in place when it comes to their friendship.
“I know Henry. He has terms and conditions with me. I’m not allowed to ask about his personal life.
“It’s like, ‘Millie, shut up. No.’ And I’m like ‘Understood.’ Whereas with the Stranger Things kids, it’s different.
“There’s no boundaries because it’s like we’re all siblings. But with Henry, he’s very strict with me, which I appreciate.”
That dynamic has helped define their on-screen partnership, with the franchise continuing to lean on the contrast between Enola’s coming-of-age story and Sherlock’s more reserved presence. In the third film, Brown’s detective returns for another high-stakes case, with Cavill also back as Sherlock.
