Morgan Wallen has biting response after flipping piano in onstage outburst

Morgan Wallen has opened up further about the on-stage moment that saw the polarising country star tip his piano over during a live show.

Over the years, plenty of musicians have become oddly associated with tossing or wrecking furniture, and the list of famous incidents is longer than you might expect.

The Who’s Keith Moon was known for sending items flying from hotel windows, The Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards once hurled a television from his room, and Wallen himself made headlines two years ago after being arrested for throwing a chair from the rooftop of a bar.

Now, though, the focus has shifted from furniture to equipment used on stage.

The 33-year-old went viral after flipping a piano during his Denver concert last week, after running into technical issues mid-performance.

At Empower Field at Mile High Stadium, Wallen ultimately ditched the instrument and continued acapella during the encore of his hit track, after appearing to struggle with what he could hear from the piano.

Clips shared online show him stopping his use of the keyboard and finishing the song on his own.

After the final notes, he shoved the piano over — a move that reminded some viewers of Billy Joel’s well-known on-stage moments (including his 1987 concert in Moscow).

When he returned to the stage for his next show, Wallen addressed the situation directly as he approached the upright piano and told the camera: “Hey, I just want you guys to know that, right now, this piano is working.”

He then aimed a follow-up comment at the crew, telling the audience: “That’s what they told me last night, too!”

Wallen is currently touring with The Problem Tour, and the piano incident has sparked mixed reactions across social media, with fans split over whether it was harmless rockstar behavior or unnecessary destruction.

One supporter posted: “Flip it again. HE DONT NEED NO PIANO. He CAN sing!”

Another added: “Rockstars break instruments on stage all the time. Smashing guitars and stuff. Go off, Morgan!”

Others were less impressed, with one user writing: “He’s still the problem,” referencing the tour name.

Critics were quick to weigh in too, including one comment that read: “Stop and think many people would love to have that piano.”

Another simply said: “lol embarrassing.”

Still, the piano moment isn’t the only time Wallen has been linked to a high-profile outburst involving property.

Earlier in his career, he was accused of throwing a chair from the terrace at Chief’s bar in Nashville, with reports alleging it landed close to two police officers.

Wallen was subsequently arrested on three counts of reckless endangerment, and later appeared smiling in a Metro Nashville Police booking photo.
