Morrissey has canceled his four-show Las Vegas residency at the Wynn next week, citing “unforeseen logistical challenges.”
The announcement came just a week before the shows were scheduled to begin.
Morrissey was scheduled to begin his four-night stand at the Wynn Las Vegas’ Encore Theater on August 14, with many ticket buyers also having purchased travel and accommodation in order to see the singer in Sin City.
With just a week’s notice, Morrissey canceled his upcoming four-night residency at the Wynn Las Vegas due to “unforeseen logistical challenges.”
No further details about the nature of the logistical issues were provided by his team.
The Smiths star, 67, was supposed to be playing a string of dates in Sin City, kicking off on Friday August 14.
Morrissey, who released his 14th solo album Make-Up Is A Lie in March, was due to play his residency at the Wynn Las Vegas.
The cancellation marks yet another last-minute pullout for the veteran performer.
Morrissey kicked off the year by canceling California concerts — shows that were rescheduled from 2025 — “due to an adverse reaction to a prescription medication.” His Atlanta show was nixed “due to artist illness,” his St. Louis show was canceled day of because of “flu,” his Dominican Republic show was canceled for “reasons completely beyond our control” the organizers said, a St. Petersburg, Florida show was canceled without explanation, and a gig in Valencia, Spain was called off because of “sleep deprivation” due to a loud festival nearby that “left Morrissey in a catatonic state.”
Fans’ reactions are perhaps unsurprising given Morrissey’s track record of canceling shows, especially in Las Vegas. He postponed a performance at The Cosmopolitan three times between 2012 and 2013 before the show was ultimately scrapped entirely. He also canceled a performance at Mandalay Bay’s House of Blues in 2023 and has continued to postpone or cancel additional performances at other venues over the years.
In recent years, Morrissey has become somewhat notorious for canceling or postponing gigs for a wide variety of reasons; he canceled 22 scheduled performances in 2025 alone, with another 10 gigs postponed.
Earlier this year, he also dealt with security concerns on tour.
A 26-year-old Ottawa man Noah Castellano was arrested and charged with threats to cause death or bodily harm for threatening Morrissey on the social app Blue Sky. On Sept. 4, Castellano, under an account titled “guy who gets shot in the head one hundred thousand times a day,” posted, “Steven Patrick Morrissey when you perform at TD Place here in Ottawa next week on the evening of September 12th at about 9pm, I will be present at the venue in the audience and I will attempt to shoot you many times and kill you with a very large gun that I own illegally.”
Despite the threat, he performed as scheduled.
In the viral moment that preceded the current cancellation,
Morrissey cancelled a concert in Spain’s Valencia in March because the din from the city’s traditional pyrotechnics festival left him “catatonic” with sleep deprivation.
The lead singer with 1980s English band The Smiths had travelled for two days by road to reach his hotel in Valencia from Milan, arriving late on Wednesday.
“Any form of sleep or rest throughout the night was impossible due to festival noise / loud techno singing / megaphone announcements,” said a statement on his official website. “This experience has left Morrissey in a catatonic state.”
In a subsequent post, Morrissey described his hotel in the Plaza Manises area as an “indescribable hell,” and added, “It will take me one year to recover. And that is an understatement.”
Morrissey’s statement emphasized in bold print that “the show is not canceled. Circumstances render the show impossible.”
The distinction was important to his team at the time, though ultimately the concert did not take place.
Morrissey’s next currently scheduled U.S. appearance is at Riot Fest in Chicago on Sept. 19, where he’s set to open for Tool.
