Scarlet Vas revealed on Instagram that she and stepbrother-turned-husband Tayo Ricci are expecting their second child.
Vas, who played Mishti Sharma on the Australian soap Neighbours, shared the news with her 2.3 million followers alongside photos of herself with Ricci and their daughter Silva. The couple wed in 2023 and welcomed their first child in December 2024, later revealing her name as Silva in April 2025.
The 30-year-old wrote on Instagram: “The doctor called. Apparently we’re having another baby.”
Ricci, 29, also shared the announcement on his own social media accounts, where the couple has built a massive following through their unconventional love story. The pair have since been flooded with congratulatory messages from fans, though their relationship has long drawn mixed reactions online.
The couple have spoken openly about their connection on multiple occasions, with Vas telling News.com.au in 2024 that they first met as teenagers through mutual friends. “We were about 13 years old when we first met through mutual friends, our families knew each other and they introduced us I guess you could say,” she explained. “So we’ve known each other for a very long time.”
She added that they had been together for 10 years at that point and had recently returned to Australia after five years living in the United States.
Vas has consistently emphasized that she and Ricci are not blood-related, though she has chosen to keep the specific details of their family ties private. “We’re definitely not blood-related,” she told the outlet, while declining to elaborate further on how their parents’ relationship connected them.
The pair have also addressed their critics directly, with Vas noting that negative comments rarely bother them. “I don’t really read our comments section, but if I do, I actually laugh,” she shared in the same interview. “We find trolls very entertaining.”
She continued: “If something’s really negative, we might comment back, we find it is quite a good disarming tactic.”
Vas has maintained that their rise to online fame was never intentional. “We didn’t set out to become influencers, it was never on our radar or ever something we ever wanted to do,” she told News.com.au. “When I finished up on Neighbours we moved to America so I could pursue acting, but then Covid hit which affected the industry and it was really difficult.”
She explained that they “fell into content after meeting some of the big creators in LA… And eventually we began making videos for ourselves.”
In the viral moment that first brought them widespread attention in 2020, Vas and Ricci went public with their relationship by revealing they were step-siblings. The announcement quickly spread across social media platforms, with the couple later clarifying that their parents had begun dating before the two started their own romance. While they are technically related through their parents’ relationship, they have repeatedly stressed there is no blood relation between them.
The pair have since leaned heavily into the “dating my step-brother” premise, which became the foundation of their online stardom and helped them amass millions of followers across platforms. Their content often plays directly into the controversy their relationship generates, turning skeptical commenters into engagement.
Despite the ongoing backlash, Vas has insisted that the couple remains unfazed by those calling their relationship “gross” because they “have each other.” The family of three is now preparing to become four, with the couple continuing to document their journey for their massive online audience.
Vas and Ricci have not yet shared a due date for their second child.
