Netflix Leaves Viewers Stunned with 97% Rated True-Crime Mini-Series Many Find Unbearable to Complete

Netflix subscribers are captivated by a true-crime mini-series that has achieved near-perfect ratings.

With an extensive library of titles on the streaming service, it’s easy for some exceptional shows to go unnoticed.

One such series is a seven-part documentary that viewers are calling an ‘absolute masterpiece’.

Taking place in the United States, it delves into the harrowing story of an unsolved murder that shocked Baltimore.

The content is so unsettling that some viewers have admitted they couldn’t watch it until the end.

For those who did complete it, the series left a lasting impression, resonating with them long after the final credits rolled.

The series investigates the 1969 murder of Sister Cathy Cesnik, a well-loved nun and educator from Baltimore.

Her body was discovered two months after her disappearance, and the case went cold. However, years later, disturbing revelations brought it back into the spotlight.

In the 1990s, a former student, identified only as Jane Doe, revealed harrowing details of sexual abuse by the school’s chaplain.

Even more distressing was her claim that she was shown Sister Cathy’s body and warned to remain silent.

Her account, combined with those of other victims and witnesses, depicted a chilling narrative of widespread abuse and silence.

Despite accumulating evidence, no one was ever brought to justice.

Beyond Baltimore, the story received little attention. However, through compelling interviews with survivors, journalists, and community members determined to uncover the truth, the Netflix series delves into a potential cover-up spanning decades.

The series is called The Keepers, and you can view its trailer below:

A Reddit user sought recommendations for ‘a show that’s going to have me gagged and shocked’.

“I need to feel something,” they expressed. “I want to watch something that’s going to have me floored multiple times throughout watching.”

“I’m talking jaw-dropping, unexpected, and applause-worthy.”

Suggestions included the new crime drama Dept Q and Netflix’s highly acclaimed series, Dark.

However, many users recommended The Keepers, with one person stating: “As a true crime junkie I consider it an absolute masterpiece. It’s brutal but so well-done.”

Another user admitted: “I consume a lot of true crime and I couldn’t make it through The Keepers.”

A third commented: “Very few documentaries – if any at all except this one – absolutely floor me.

“This one literally shocked me to my core. This is a documentary that you must watch.”

Another viewer confessed: “This one lives rent free in my head. It shook me to the core,” while someone else noted it was the first documentary to give them a ‘jump scare’.

The series has also garnered a remarkable 97 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 31 critic reviews.

Over 250 audience members have rated it, with an average score of 93 percent.

One reviewer shared: “Since its release in 2017, The Keepers has been a top 5 documentary in my book. Brilliantly told with excellent production quality.”

Another concurred: “One of the most spine-chilling docuseries to have come out in the recent times, and an emotional one at that.”

All seven episodes of The Keepers are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
