New Father Returning Home From Visiting Newborn In Hospital Dies After Fatal Car Crash

A new father was just returning home from visiting his newly-born daughter when he was killed in a car collision.

32-year-old Kevin Quinn, a Marine combat vet, was killed early Saturday morning when his SUV was struck head-on by a 2000 Toyota sedan.

The car was driven by Mickey Rivera, 22, of Fall river who was reportedly on a high-speed chase trying to flee from police. Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene, while Kevin was brought to South Shore Hospital. But, the new dad succumbed to his injuries.

Jocelyn Goyette, 24, was with Rivera in the sedan when the incident occurred. She was riding in the passenger seat and sustained life-threatening injuries. She remains in a Boston hospital in critical condition.

Rob Dinan, Kevin’s best friend, said, “I still can’t wrap my head around this. This is a man who served two deployments in Afghanistan, comes home and marries his dream girl and has a daughter and then this happens.”

“He was just an all-around great guy,” Dinan said. “He’d give you the shirt off his back and give you his last 10 dollars if you needed it. He was always there to lend a hand. He had a great smile and a great personality. He was a lot of fun to be around. He just had a way about him.”

A GoFundMe page was set up by his friends in the Marines to help out his family with funeral expenses.

Kevin was survived by his wife, Kara, and his newborn daughter, Logan.
