Nicole Kidman debuted Pieter Mulier’s first Atelier Versace design at the “Practical Magic 2” Los Angeles premiere Monday night.
The actress, 58, arrived at the Hollywood screening in a black lace gown featuring a plunging neckline and high-low skirt that exposed one toned leg with a thigh-skimming hem. She paired the lingerie-inspired look with black lace Manolo Blahnik pumps, a matching choker necklace, and Parure Atelier earrings, styling her hair in a vampy side-part with messy waves.
The witchy aesthetic marked a sharp departure from Kidman’s appearance at the London premiere last week, where she wore a sea foam green sequined Chanel gown with strands of pearl chains draped over the bodice and shoulders.
Mulier, who previously led Alaïa, was named creative director of the Italian fashion house in February and celebrated his official first day at Versace on July 1. His first runway collection is not anticipated until 2027, making Kidman’s gown an early preview of his vision for the brand.
Sandra Bullock, 61, also embraced dark glamour at the LA event, wearing a custom Louis Vuitton black velvet dress with a plunging neckline and exaggerated collar that evoked Wednesday Addams. The look followed her asymmetrical leopard Givenchy ensemble from the London premiere.
Bullock revealed at the London event that she had gotten a new tattoo dedicated to her two children, son Louis, 16, and daughter Laila, 12. She later shared at the LA premiere that both children make a surprise appearance in the sequel.
“They’re in the movie, but not in an obvious way to you,” Bullock teased, adding that “the pair don’t even know yet where they appear.”
Joey King and Maisie Williams play Bullock’s on-screen children in the film. Williams, the “Game of Thrones” alum, has repeatedly paid tribute to her fictional mother during the press tour, wearing a burgundy dress inspired by one Bullock wore in 1999 and also borrowing directly from the star’s closet.
The original “Practical Magic,” released in 1998, starred Kidman and Bullock as witch sisters Sally and Gillian Owens navigating love, loss, and a family curse in a small Massachusetts town. The film, based on Alice Hoffman’s novel, developed a devoted following over the years despite mixed initial reviews, with its blend of dark comedy, romance, and sisterhood resonating through decades of midnight screenings and streaming rediscovery. The sequel reunites the leads more than 25 years later.
“Practical Magic 2” opens in theaters Sept. 10.
