Olympic viewers spot highly NSFW incident during surfing event

German surfer Tim Elter has sparked significant attention among Olympics viewers.

On Saturday (27 July), those who tuned in to watch the surfing competition at the Olympics may have witnessed more than they expected – the incident dubbed ‘Blue Scrotum’ at the opening ceremony was just the beginning.

The 2024 Paris Olympic Games’ surfing event took place in Teahupo’o, Tahiti. Representing Germany was Tim Elter, who made ‘history’ at the Games, though perhaps not for the reasons one might anticipate.

Yesterday (31 July), the 20-year-old surfer took to Instagram to share footage from round one, heat one of the competition.

The caption states: “An Olympic moment for the books.”

The video shows Elter riding a wave, becoming slightly submerged, then resurfacing—missing his trunks from the top half-and-a-bit of his bottom, inadvertently mooning the camera.

He quickly returns to the water, and the mooning incident lasts just a few seconds.

While commentators might have overlooked or chosen to ignore the flashing to avoid drawing attention to it, some sharp-eyed viewers certainly didn’t miss it. The incident quickly gained traction on social media, leaving people in fits of laughter.

A TikTok user named @seekclarity.friends was particularly amused by the incident and posted to their page, questioning if others noticed the same.

“No… What happened????” asked one user, while another clarified: “Last wave pulled a surfer’s shorts down. Came up from white water with his buns fully out for a moment.”

A third user humorously commented: “Why is there a plumber on the Olympics surfing team?”

“I’m so glad someone else saw that,” another added.

The TikToker noted: “We were CRACKING up.”

Others also commented on Elter’s post. Warning: NSFW moment with ‘a whole booty’ on display:

One Instagram user remarked: “I can already imagine the advertising for new board shorts! « This will never happen again! »”

“I don’t know how this didn’t win gold,” another commented.

“You are the moment of Paris 2024,” said another user.

Despite failing to qualify for the second round, Elter’s Olympics moment has certainly left a lasting impression on viewers.

As a final comment: [Translation] “Hahahaha legends must do legends things.”
