Only one Game of Thrones character could technically make an appearance in House of the Dragon

The excitement surrounding the second season of House of the Dragon is palpable as fans of the Game of Thrones universe find themselves engrossed once more, a full five years after the original series concluded. This prequel not only quenches the thirst of Game of Thrones enthusiasts but also enriches the lore of the saga, setting its events about two centuries prior to the happenings of its predecessor. This substantial time gap might suggest few common threads in terms of characters between the two series. However, there’s an intriguing exception.

While key figures like Jon Snow or Daenerys Targaryen are out of the picture due to the timeline, not being born until much later, there is another character who could theoretically cross over: Melisandre.

Melisandre, the enigmatic Red Woman, graced our screens in 29 episodes across seasons 2-8 of Game of Thrones. Despite her youthful appearance, it was ultimately revealed that she was approximately 400 years old during the events of that series.

This revelation opens up the fascinating possibility of a 200-year-old Melisandre making an appearance in House of the Dragon. The notion has sparked quite a bit of discussion among the fanbase. While some are thrilled at the prospect of her involvement, others are skeptical about how she would integrate into a narrative that already features its own mystical character, Alys Rivers, who is currently stirring up intrigue.

One excited fan shared on X (formerly Twitter), “I’m waiting for Melisandre to show up in House of the Dragon. She would have been 200 years old during that saga.” In contrast, another user expressed a different viewpoint, stating, “People keep comparing it to GoT and it’s a separate story. Everyone wants Melisandre to appear. This isn’t Game of Thrones. It’s House of the Dragon.”

The debate continues as fans eagerly await to see if and how the Red Witch might weave her way into the fabric of the new series, potentially linking the rich histories of these two intertwined worlds.
