Orlando Bloom’s uncomfortable response to Katy Perry’s VMAs act goes viral, leaving fans puzzled

Orlando Bloom attended last night’s VMAs to support his fiancée, Katy Perry, but sharp-eyed viewers noticed a somewhat awkward moment during the ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer’s performance.

Perry was honored with one of the VMAs’ most prestigious awards, the MTV Video Vanguard Award, at the glamorous event held on September 11. She joins past recipients like Nicki Minaj, Shakira, Missy Elliott, and Jennifer Lopez in receiving this lifetime achievement award.

The award was presented to her by Bloom, who delivered a heartfelt speech before the presentation.

“You fell in love with her as Katy Perry. I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson,” he began.

“You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light, and her unique sense of humor to every song she writes and music video she creates.

“I know her as a mother, as a partner who brings that same love and joy to our family.”

Bloom concluded his speech with, “Congratulations on this honor, baby.”

Prior to receiving the award from her fiancé, Perry performed a medley of some of her popular songs, including ‘I Kissed a Girl’, ‘Teenage Dream’, and ‘E.T’, along with her upcoming single ‘I Am His, He His Mine’.

During her performance, cameras captured Bloom in the audience, and viewers noticed him trying to sing along to the lyrics.

One viewer tweeted: “Every cut to Orlando Bloom makes it seem like this is the first time he’s heard a Katy Perry song.”

Another added, “Orlando Bloom has never heard a single Katy Perry song.”

A third echoed: “Orlando Bloom is reacting to this performance as if he’s never heard a single Katy Perry song before what is going on #VMAs.”

However, some praised Bloom for his support, even if he’s not familiar with all her songs.

“Orlando Bloom has never heard a Katy Perry song in his life, but good for him for supporting her,” another person noted.

Considering Perry’s six albums and over 40 singles, it’s understandable if Bloom doesn’t know every lyric. Additionally, since Bloom is nearing 50, it’s fair to say that Perry’s music might not be his typical playlist.

A+ for effort, Orlando!
