One-bedroom units in the building go for as much as $700,000, according to StreetEasy data.

The two had argued over the victim’s oxygen mask before the stabbing, sources said.

A building resident told the Post he overheard the aide speaking intensely to her patient on the phone.
He had just come back from running errands and was having a cigarette when she asked him for one.
When he declined, the situation escalated.

“I heard her screaming into the phone: ‘I do everything for you, I do your laundry, I take care of you, I take care of every little thing,'” the resident recalled.

It remains unclear whether the stabbing took place inside an apartment or in a common area of the building, and the exact relationship between the victim and the person of interest has not been disclosed.

The hospital proximity likely contributed to the victim’s stable condition and rapid treatment.

In the viral moment that led to wider attention, the resident had witnessed the aide’s distressed phone call with her patient before the violence escalated. The tension over the oxygen mask appeared to be the immediate trigger for the altercation.

The building resident’s account captured the emotional strain audible in the aide’s voice as she detailed her responsibilities caring for the patient.

Charges against the person of interest remain pending as of Sunday morning.
