Bensalem school bus aide Ali Khan, 62, was arrested and charged after he allegedly inappropriately touched a 14-year-old special needs student.
Khan, of Bensalem Township, was arrested after he allegedly inappropriately touched a child on the bus to Bensalem High School on Wednesday, July 29, and Thursday, July 30.
Police said the arrest came after the parents of the victim contacted police and investigators reviewed CCTV footage taken from a camera in the school bus, which showed Khan directing the child to a specific seat on the bus.
Khan “draped his body across the juvenile while securing her seatbelt and inappropriately touching her for an extended period of time,” according to police.
After the teen was secured in a seat, Khan was observed on video touching the victim’s leg and inner thigh area.
When the victim tried to close her legs, Khan could be seen on video pulling her legs apart in order to continue the abuse, police said.
Video surveillance captured Khan appearing to use his cellphone to record videos and photographs of the teen victim and, police said, he appeared to be putting his hand in his pants and touching himself, as well.
He has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Corruption of Minors, and two counts of Indecent Assault.
Khan is being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility on $500,000 bail.
Officials with the Bensalem School District said a district employee was removed from service pending the outcome of the investigation.
“The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. Whenever concerns involving student safety are brought to our attention, we act immediately to protect students, support families, and cooperate fully with law enforcement. We are committed to conducting a thorough administrative review while respecting the integrity of the criminal investigation,” district officials said in a statement.
The Bensalem Police Department is asking anyone else who may have been victimized by Khan to come forward.
“The safety and well-being of our students continues to be the top priority of both the Bensalem Township Police Department and the Bensalem School District,” investigators said.
Khan has a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 11.
