When Monica Smith’s daughter and five children became homeless, she decided to give them her house. Instead of moving somewhere else, Monica decided to transform her 8×10 foot backyard shack into a fully-functional home. The end result is rather remarkable as the following pictures will show.

This is what the shed looks like on the outside
But take a peek inside
It has a fully operational kitchen
With plenty of cupboard space
It has its own separate living room
Monica can still enjoy her favorite movies
It even has an adorable dining area for two
There are shelves for food storage as well as her pots and pans
The fully renovated shack has two floors
Here is the upstairs bedroom
The cozy nook at the top of the stairs has room for a bed, table and closet
The window allows plenty of light into the room
This is truly an amazing accomplishment
Monica’s decision to live in what is now being called a “tiny house” is part of a larger trend to be more economically and environmentally efficient. Instead of living in enormous houses where money and energy are lost maintaining it, people choose to live in spaces that are only as large as they truly need.
