Ever since Anthony Ammirati took to the podium on August 3, fans haven’t been able to stop discussing his noticeable presence.
The French pole vaulter attempted a 5.70-meter jump on Saturday, but his knee and his prominent bulge interfered, affecting his performance.
Observers were quick to catch this slip-up, attributing it to Ammirati’s well-endowed physique, leading to his failure to advance to the next round and finishing in 12th place.
Ammirati has once again become a topic of conversation online, this time due to his amusing and striking tattoo, following an offer from a porn site and a surge of memes.
The athlete sports a tattoo of a long snake wrapped around his forearm, prompting a slew of self-explanatory jokes.
“Anthony Ammirati will never have to explain the forearm tattoo again. Message received and understood,” one user wrote on Twitter.
“Never forget: This is the moment when the tattoo made sense,” they added.
Reflecting on the mishap with the French Athletics Federation, Ammirati said, “I’m a bit gutted, because I didn’t miss anything on the third attempt at 5.70 m. What I did miss was a bit of jumping in training to fine-tune the settings. Just a technical session.
“I was 100 percent physically, but I was missing a bit of pole vault.
“The conditions were good. It’s the first time I’ve started a competition without any stress. As I was a total outsider, I only had one goal: to interact with the audience. I was almost there.”
He added: “I’m just glad I can make people smile and laugh. And who knows, maybe this will be the start of something amazing!”
Indeed, it turned out to be the beginning of something remarkable.
Since the incident, Ammirati has reportedly received a $250,000 offer from adult film site CamSoda (according to TMZ Sports), advice from Serena Williams’ former coach, and a flood of fans declaring him the true winner of this year’s Olympics.
“Loses vaults. Wins internet,” one user tweeted.
“I think it’s a bigger flex than winning a medal lmao,” another commented.
“Bro won it all in the end. He will be remembered for eternity for this one moment,” another wrote.
Ammirati entered this year’s Paris Olympics with the aim of making history and achieving significant victories. It’s safe to say he has gained far more than he ever imagined.
