Power Rangers Star Undergoes Emergency Surgery After Suffering Serious Brain Injury

“Power Rangers Wild Force” star Phillip Andrew is awake and showing improvement after emergency surgery for a serious brain injury, his representative announced Tuesday.

Christian Ingram of Heroic Talent & Appearances shared the update on Instagram, revealing that Andrew, 48, had undergone the procedure following the injury. The statement marked the first confirmation of the actor’s medical condition after he abruptly canceled all appearances nearly two weeks earlier.

“We are grateful to share that Phillip is now awake and showing encouraging signs of improvement,” Ingram wrote in his Instagram statement.

“While this is a positive step forward, Phillip still has a long road ahead of him.”

Ingram asked supporters to keep the actor in their thoughts as recovery continues. “Continue to keep him and his loved ones in their thoughts and prayers as he navigates this difficult time,” he posted.

The representative also requested privacy for Andrew and his family. “We also kindly ask that everyone continue to respect Phillip and his family’s privacy as they focus on his health and recovery,” he added.

“On behalf of Phillip and his family, we sincerely appreciate the overwhelming love, support, and prayers during this incredibly challenging time,” Ingram concluded.

Several fellow “Power Rangers” alumni responded with support in the comments. Sasha Craig wrote, “Thank you for the update! Heal up fast, @phillipandrewofficial.”

Jessica Rey, who also appeared in “Power Rangers Wild Force,” added her own message: “Praise the Lord 🙏 Praying daily for you, brother.”

The health update followed Ingram’s earlier announcement that Andrew had pulled out of all scheduled appearances for the “foreseeable future.” At that time, Ingram had not disclosed specifics, stating only that the actor needed to “focus on his health and recovery.”

Andrew is best known for originating the role of Merrick Baliton, the Lunar Wolf Ranger, in the 2002 season of “Power Rangers Wild Force.” The Saban-produced series marked his highest-profile acting credit.

More recently, Andrew had turned to YouTube content creation. In 2025, he launched a channel dedicated to “Power Rangers” coverage and industry commentary, with a bio promising “Ranger nostalgia, special guest appearances, and interactive live streams” for longtime and new fans alike.

The cancellation of appearances had initially raised concern among fans of the franchise, which maintains an active convention circuit decades after its 1990s debut. Andrew’s Lunar Wolf Ranger remains a memorable entry in the series’ extensive roster of costumed heroes.

Andrew’s YouTube venture represented a return to the franchise that had defined his on-screen career, offering him a direct platform to engage with a fanbase that has followed “Power Rangers” through multiple production eras and cast generations.
