Prince Harry is on a trajectory that could prove to be “destructive” to his brother Prince William when he ascends to the throne, suggests a royal expert. Paul Burrell, who previously served as a butler to Princess Diana, has voiced concerns about the Duke of Sussex’s ongoing rift with the royal family since his departure from royal duties in 2020.
Discussing the situation, Burrell mentioned, “I think they are just letting him get on with it now. Harry is taking another step closer all the time to isolation.” He elaborated on his worries about Harry’s actions, stating, “Harry has pressed the self-destruct button and he is going ahead with what he thinks is right and I think he will come unstuck. I don’t think all their plans are going to pan out, I think there is a time scale to his destruction.”
Burrell also expressed that the current discord between Harry and the royal family would not have existed if Diana were still alive. He noted, “There is no one to do it and so it is going to rumble on because nobody is brave enough to stick their neck out and no one is strong enough for Harry to listen to.”
Furthermore, Burrell speculated that Prince Harry might be waiting for the day his brother William becomes king. “I think [Harry] might be holding out hope for when William becomes king,” he said. He also added, “Harry believed there would be a new chapter and a new leaf with a place for him but he would be so estranged by then that he would be barely recognizable to the public and I’m not sure they want him back on a full-time role.”
Labeling Harry as a potentially “destructive” force within the royal family, Burrell highlighted the unpredictability he brings, saying the royals are always guessing “what he is going to do next.”
Since his step back from royal life, Prince Harry, along with his wife Meghan Markle, has established a new home in Montecito, California. Despite the distance from London, they have maintained a close relationship with Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
This friendship is reportedly causing tension with Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales. Royal expert Tom Quinn shared insights with the Mirror, stating, “For William and Kate, an alliance between Harry and Meghan and Beatrice and Eugenie is a huge worry.” He pointed out that despite Harry and Meghan’s strained relations with Prince Andrew, their connection with his daughters remains strong.
Eugenie even made a notable visit to the Sussexes in the United States, attending the Super Bowl together in 2022 and appearing in their Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan.”
