Queen Elizabeth II Reigns Supreme as Brits’ Most Googled Person This Year

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was the most Googled person in the UK in 2022, with Johnny Depp coming in second.

According to the latest survey, the Queen received an average of 516,290 Google searches each month this year, even though the country’s longest-reigning monarch died in September at the age of 96.

Celeb news site CelebTattler conducted the study, which examined Google data for over 150 of the most important celebrities since January 1, 2022, to identify the most talked about.

Brits Googled Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp 437,490 times every month on average this year.

According to celebrity news site CelebTattler, the Queen, who died in September at the age of 96, was the most Googled person in the UK in 2022.

Johnny Depp came in second, with Brits looking for him on Google 437,490 times per month on average this year.

While his ex-wife Amber Heard ranked third owing to their defamation trial from April to June this year, Heard was searched 388,680 times each month this year.

Kim Kardashian came in fourth (238,170 monthly searches), Oscars punch actor Will Smith, who notoriously punched host Chris Rock on stage at the awards ceremony, came in five (238,170 monthly searches) (231,090).

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, who grew up in Bournemouth, is the sixth most Googled celebrity in the UK this year, with Brits searching for her 228,420 times each month.

While Meghan Markle ranks seventh (223,450), Twitter CEO and Tesla billionaire Elon Musk ranks eighth (221,420), Cristiano Ronaldo ranks ninth (209,540), and music artist Harry Styles ranks tenth (208,680 times each month in the UK during the year).

Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard finished in third place, with 388,680 searches each month this year.

A spokesperson for CelebTattler said: ‘This year has certainly not been lacking when it comes to celebrity news stories, whether it be Elon Musk taking over Twitter or the Don’t Worry Darling behind the scenes drama.

‘This study provides an intriguing insight into which celebrities have had the most influence on the British people, and it will be interesting to observe if these search statistics grow or diminish in 2023,’ said the author.
