Real Madrid star Marc Cucurella reveals wild tattoo promise if Spain win the World Cup

Marc Cucurella says he will mark a potential World Cup triumph for Spain in memorable fashion, revealing he would get a tattoo of manager Luis de la Fuente if his side beat Argentina in the final.

The Spain full-back has been a regular part of Luis de la Fuente’s plans and remains one of the more energetic and outspoken figures in the squad. With La Roja preparing for their first World Cup final since their 2010 success, Cucurella shared just how much the occasion means to him.

“If we win the World Cup, I will tattoo Luis de la Fuente’s face on my body,” Cucurella said.

Spain arrive at the final with considerable momentum after an impressive run through the tournament. Under de la Fuente, they have continued the form that carried them to victory at Euro 2024 and made them one of the leading contenders entering the World Cup.

Argentina’s path has been equally dramatic, setting up a final that promises to be one of the biggest occasions of the tournament. Both teams have navigated pressure-packed knockout matches to reach Sunday’s showdown.

Going into Sunday’s showdown, Spain are seen by many as narrow favourites, largely because of the authority they have shown across the tournament compared with Lionel Messi’s side.

If Spain do go on to win, Cucurella would then have to choose where to place a tattoo of de la Fuente on his body.

The defender has already made his feelings about another possible tattoo subject very clear. “I prefer being bald than having a tattoo of the Barcelona badge,” Cucurella had said previously.

Despite the bold pledge, Cucurella’s immediate attention is on the final itself rather than what might come after it.

Spain are chasing a second World Cup crown, and Cucurella will be eager to make a major contribution as they attempt to lift the trophy again.

The World Cup final between Spain and Argentina is due to kick off on Sunday, July 19 at 8pm BST.
