Sai De Silva has pinpointed the exact moment she knew her marriage to David Craig was finished.
The “Real Housewives of New York City” star, 45, told her aunt Sufia on Tuesday’s episode of the Bravo series that the breaking point came when Craig charged her own birthday dinner to her credit card. The episode was filmed before Craig filed for divorce in April.
“He takes me to a very expensive restaurant, and we had a beautiful time,” De Silva recounted. “We came home. We had amazing sex. Everything was great. I was like, ‘Okay, all right, I feel this.'”
The mood shifted when De Silva checked their bills afterward.
“But when I looked at the bills, the f–king dinner was on my credit card,” she said.
“I said, ‘David! You made me pay for my own dinner? My own birthday dinner?'”
She continued: “And that’s when I knew… What’s left?”
Earlier in the same conversation, De Silva explained why she believed Craig had remained in the marriage despite what she described as “never any affection” between them.
“I think he liked the illusion of being my husband,” she said. “I think he liked the illusion of being a family unit, and I think he likes the lifestyle.”
De Silva admitted to her aunt that she had wanted a divorce, but Craig’s “aggressive” response when she raised the topic led them to agree on separation instead. She added that without their two children — daughter London, 14, and son Rio, 8 — the marriage “would’ve been a wrap a long time ago.”
Craig filed for divorce after nearly nine years of marriage on April 2 in New York City, according to court documents. Three days later, De Silva addressed the split in a social media statement.
“I’m overwhelmed by all your messages and it truly means more than you know,” she wrote. “My heart is with my children, and my focus is on giving them as much stability and love as possible.”
The couple first met during a getaway to Costa Rica in 2009 and married in June 2017. In a 2023 Bravo blog post, De Silva had described Craig as “very involved when it comes to his family” and called him the “perfect guy,” while joking that he was “a terrible Instagram husband.”
During her appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” Tuesday night, De Silva confirmed the divorce is ongoing and revealed Craig had filed without warning her first.
“Without letting me know” was the “moment when I felt like there was no going back,” she told host Andy Cohen. She also described co-parenting with Craig as “not great.”
De Silva acknowledged on the Bravo aftershow that filming “RHONY” amid the marital collapse had been difficult, though she found the experience “very powerful.”
The influencer has been open about the financial dimensions of the split as well. On a recent episode, she dropped a bombshell about her finances amid the divorce proceedings, telling viewers “Surprise…” as she revealed details about her monetary situation.
De Silva’s candidness about the credit card incident and its emotional fallout has resonated with viewers, who have watched her navigate the collapse of her marriage in real time across the Bravo franchise.
