Scarlett Johansson ‘blacked out’ when husband Colin Jost made joke about her body on SNL

Scarlett Johansson experienced a total “blackout” after her husband Colin Jost delivered a controversial joke about her during Saturday Night Live’s notorious joke swap segment.

For those who tune into SNL regularly, the joke swap is a well-known highlight where things can get pretty wild. During the season finale, co-hosts Jost and Michael Che took turns reading jabs they had penned for each other, pushing the boundaries of TV comedy.

The moment that stole the show involved Jost, who started off by saying, “ChatGPT has released a new voice assistant feature inspired by Scarlett Johansson’s AI character in Her.”

“Which I’ve never bothered to watch, because without that body, what’s the point of listening?” he quipped, leaving the audience in a mix of shock and disbelief.

The joke clearly hit a nerve, as Johansson later revealed on The Kelly Clarkson Show how much it affected her. “That’s like a tame version if you guys have ever seen the jokes. As soon as they showed my picture, I – I actually don’t remember that segment. I fully blacked out,” she confessed.

She continued, expressing her anxiety towards the annual segment: “It is brutal, I feel like every year it gets worse. We need to, like, go into witness protection that night. Like, I am absolutely terrified we’re gonna be like, targeted. It’s so bad.”

The actress, who married Jost in 2020, also reflected on her brief marriage to Ryan Reynolds. The pair, who got married in 2008, ended their relationship three years later.

Johansson shared some laughs about her past with Reynolds during a casual chat on Gwyneth Paltrow’s The goop Podcast in 2023. Paltrow, surprised, exclaimed, “Oh that’s right, because I forgot that you were married to Ryan Reynolds! Goals!”

Johansson joked about the brief nature of their union: “We weren’t married very long, but we were when I first met you, for Iron Man [2] or whatever,” she recalled. Paltrow added, “We love a good Ryan Reynolds in our house,” to which Johansson responded, “He’s a good guy.”

Now, Reynolds is happily married to Blake Lively, tying the knot back in 2012.
