‘Shalom:’ Kanye West Returns to Elon Musk’s Twitter

Kanye West, the rapper and erstwhile fashion magnate, has resumed tweeting after a nearly month-long hiatus that began with Twitter erasing a November 4 message in which he used the N-word. West replied to a test tweet with “Shalom:).”

In a subsequent tweet, the rapper wrote, “Shalom:)”

West was barred from Twitter in early October for making antisemitic messages, including one about going “death con [sic] 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE.”

The rapper’s Twitter account was returned to the network in late October, when Tesla CEO Elon Musk formally finalized his purchase of the social media firm.

On November 4, though, West tweeted, “I’m beginning to assume anti Semitic means n*gger.” Twitter purportedly erased that tweet.

Since then, the rapper has been silent on the site – until Sunday, when he tweeted again.

Following West’s anti-Semitic remarks in October, many believe him to be essentially “canceled,” since a host of companies that had collaborated with him have subsequently broken connections with him.

Adidas, a German sportswear company, declared the end of its collaboration with West, calling his tirades “hazardous.” Vogue magazine and Balenciaga, two other fashion behemoths, have also announced that they will no longer collaborate with West.

Furthermore, the rapper’s relationship with the Hollywood talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA) has been severed. The Scholastic Play-By-Play Classics basketball league has declared that West’s private school, Donda Academy, has been forbidden from participating in the league’s competitions.

Skechers also turned West down when he tried to sell his Yeezy sneakers at the company’s headquarters in Los Angeles. Even Goodwill resale retailers stated they have to reconsider whether to sell West’s Yeezy items.
