#1. You go big or go home. There is no in between.
One of the worst words anyone can describe you with is “average”. You have a burning desire to always be the best at everything, and would rather choose to not do something than be considered just “average”. You HATE mediocrity.
#2. Your work is always flawless, and you will do anything to make sure that happens.
You will happily burn that midnight oil, gulp copious cups of coffee, and miss out on countless socials in order to make sure that you deliver your best. You have your priorities sorted.
#3. You give your 110% to everything, regardless of the size/importance of the project.
Regardless if it’s a pitch for your company’s biggest client, or a cake you’re giving to your new next-door neighbor, you give equal time and attention to both. Even if it means putting off sleep on a week day.
#4. Speaking of sleep, you usually get none when you’re hard at work. In other words, always.
You’re not afraid to sacrifice an hour or five of sleep making sure every detail is perfect. You may look like a zombie at your daughter’s recital, but at least she’ll be wearing the best dress (that you sewed yourself, of course).
#5. You find it hard to admit how many hours you spent perfecting a certain thing.
Your common response to someone praising something you made? “Oh, that old thing? It’s not much, really.” But the truth is you skipped two family dinners and forgot your own birthday in the making of said thing.
#6. You are as humble as they come and find it hard to receive compliments.
Regardless of how well your work is received, you still believe that you could have done a lot better. “Yeah, it was ok but if only I could have hit that note a quarter of a beat earlier, it would have been perfect.”
#7. You are your own worst critic.
Your bar is set ridiculously high, but it means that you always over-perform and impress your peers, even when you don’t think so yourself.
#8. You also expect excellence from others, and so help them reach their full potential.
Yes, you expect a lot form your friends and family. And although it’s hard on them in the short-term, they always thank you for making them better and more successful people. You believe in their potential even when they don’t.
#9. You dwell on mistakes, but more importantly, you learn from them.
You can’t “let it go” until you’ve analyzed exactly why things went wrong and how you can prevent it from happening again. It’s exhausting, but ultimately, you’re all about self-improvement.
#10. Looking at your previous works always has you cringing and asking yourself , “What in the heck was I thinking?”
For the perfectionist, walking down memory lane is more like crawling on shards of glass. On the plus side, mentally you are always looking forwards. What’s the point of looking back at things that are no more? You’re all about being awesome in the present and future.
Your “weekend” charity work is like a full-time job. You’re a passionate and hardworking person, after all.
#12. You aim to please.
People talk like this is a bad thing. We live in a selfish world, so people like you are a refreshing change. Seeing people happy makes you happy.
#13. No matter how tiring it gets, you never regret giving your all every single time. You’re just wired that way.
You are a beautiful perfectionist.
