Poor Polly was condemned to die a slow and painful death. It’s really hard to imagine how someone could inflict such cruelty on an innocent animal.

Left starving to the point of weighing less than half of her normal body weight, breathing wide-eyed on the ground, Polly clung to life by a few fraying threads.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) found Polly and immediately set out to save her life. Slowly she started to recover.
Polly’s skin had rotted away in places, so extra care was taken to brush her.
After months of rehabilitation at a horse sanctuary, Polly was brought back to tip-top shape. Seen here frolicking through the grass, she is the picture-perfect image of a healthy, happy horse.
Not all stories end as happily as Polly’s. Animal cruelty is an everyday occurrence. Make an effort to look for signs that an animal is being hurt or neglected — you might save the life of a beautiful creature like Polly.
